KNEDC joins labour in state strike.
- Strike intended to pressure the state governor.
According to the strike order by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Kaduna State Electricity Distribution Company (KNEDC) has cut power within Kaduna state. In a statement, the company said, ‘In accordance with the orders of the NLC, TCN has cut off all 33KV power lines across Kaduna State.’

The strike action by the NLC is intended to make the state government reverse its decision to lay off workers. The governor had recently stated that government could not spend all its revenue on paying salaries.
KNEDC also urged electricity consumers to be vigilant at this time. ‘Any suspicious movement around distribution sub-stations (transformers) should be reported to the relevant security agency. We have the collective responsibility to protect these critical national assets in our neighbourhood.’
