On Saturday, March 8, Lagos Commissioner for Energy Biodun Ogunleye condemned and described the attack as unacceptable. He asserted that Lagos would not tolerate such actions. Ogunleye emphasised that the government prioritises the safety of citizens and electricity company workers.

Reports indicate the attack occurred after Ikeja Electric disconnected power to the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base due to unpaid bills. Armed Air Force officers allegedly stormed the headquarters, vandalising property worth millions and assaulting staff.
Ogunleye reiterated that Lagos values strong relationships with all stakeholders, including the military. However, he clarified that violence and intimidation are unacceptable dispute-resolution methods.
