Lavausseau Wind Farm Powers France’s Green Future

VALOREM, Bpifrance, and Crédit Agricole will fund an 18.9 MW wind farm in Lavausseau, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The project will produce 43 GWh annually, enough to power 9,500 households. This will cover about 19.3% of the residential electricity needs of the Haut-Poitou Community of Municipalities.

The wind farm supports a regional effort to expand renewable energy. Local authorities have backed the project, aligning with the Néo Terra regional roadmap for 100% renewable energy by 2050. Construction will begin in 2025, and the wind farm will become operational by spring 2026.

The Lavausseau project will complement the La Plaine des Moulins wind farm in Jazeneuil. Together, the two will deliver 36.9 MW of renewable energy, enhancing the region’s infrastructure. Nouvelle-Aquitaine currently hosts 8.4% of France’s wind power capacity, and these new projects will increase that share.

The Lavausseau wind farm is part of a larger portfolio of ten onshore wind farms, which will provide 162 MW of capacity. Investors have committed €293 million, with VALOREM, Bpifrance, and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies leading the financing. Regional banks, including Crédit Agricole and LCL, also support the project.

The project will use Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to ensure financial stability. These agreements will provide steady revenue while meeting the energy needs of local communities and businesses.

The Lavausseau project demonstrates the collaboration between the public and private sectors in supporting France’s energy transition.
