Lebanon in Darkness As Grid Collapses

The national grid of Lebanon has collapsed, plunging the country into complete darkness. The country has been experiencing severe fuel shortages which has dropped electricity generated to low levels. Angry residents have seized eight feeding stations from Lebanon’s four main power plants, diverting energy to their towns and villages.

The state-owned Électricité Du Liban (EDL) announced the energy levels are too low to feed the national grid. The power stations located in southern Lebanon and Baalbek were seized for almost one week. Speaking on the incident, an EDL manager, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, the situation is ”…a disaster waiting to happen,”

The country is on the brink of chaos, with several sectors on the verge of disaster a collapse due to the fuel shortages.
