LG Electronics Provides Solar-Powered Borehole to Ibadan Community

LG Electronics has donated a solar-powered borehole to the Agba-Akin community in Ibadan, Oyo State, aiming to provide a reliable source of clean water and improve residents’ quality of life. This initiative addresses the community’s longstanding challenges with accessing safe drinking water and supports LG’s commitment to sustainable development and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The solar-powered borehole project is part of LG’s broader efforts to promote renewable energy and contribute to global climate change mitigation. The borehole supplies clean water using solar power and aligns with global sustainability goals.

At the inauguration ceremony, Hari Elluru, Head of Corporate Marketing for LG Electronics Nigeria, highlighted the company’s dedication to making a positive impact. “Access to clean water is a basic human right,” Elluru stated. “We are proud to support the Ibadan community with this solar-powered borehole, reflecting our commitment to sustainable solutions that improve lives and foster development.”

Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, the state Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, praised LG Electronics for contributing to community development. He emphasised the importance of maintaining the project and the benefits of sustainable solutions for long-term impact.

The solar-powered borehole will provide Agba-Akin with a consistent and safe water supply, crucial for health, hygiene, and daily living. The initiative is expected to alleviate the burden on residents, especially women and children, who often travel long distances to collect water.

Community leader Alhaji Remi Olaibi Ojuolape expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents, stating, “We are deeply thankful to LG Electronics for this generous donation. The solar-powered borehole will significantly ease our access to clean water and bless our community.”

Various dignitaries attended the inauguration event, including LG Electronics CFO Inkyu Kim, Commissioner Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, Permanent Secretary Dr. Aina Olugbemiga Ayoola, and local leaders such as Imam Raimi Ojolowo and Pastor Sunday Ekeite.

This donation reflects LG’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and its dedication to improving communities across Nigeria.
