- LG&E resumes customer disconnection
- 3,600 disconnected due to non-payment of electricity bills
- 21,000 at risk of disconnection
Energy company Louisville Gas and Electric (LG&E) has disconnected thousands of customers due to non-payment of electricity bills. The company had previously suspended disconnections due to the COVID pandemic but have since resumed its disconnection exercise.
3,600 customers have so far been disconnected due to non-payment of electricity bills, says LG&E Spokesperson Liz Pratt. Another 21,000 stand the risk of disconnection unless the company receives payment for services.
Since June 14, 3,600 customers have had their electricity shut off due to non-payment, according to LG&E spokesperson Liz Pratt. Another 21,000 are at risk of disconnection if payment is not received soon. However, the utility has stated that it is working with customers to set up a repayment plan. According to Pratt, the company encourages customers not to wait until their power is disconnected to make arrangements for a repayment plan. LG&E has set up a page on its website with information on how to find assistance and set up a payment plan.
