- JEP embarks on construction of electricity poles
- New poles to replace old makeshift poles
Jungle Energy Power (JEP), has embarked on a project to replace existing makeshift electricity poles in its operation area. The electricity distribution company, the sole distributor of electricity across the Liberia-Ivorian border under the West Africa Power Pool Project (WAPP) plans to boost electricity supply to its consumers.
The makeshift poles have hindered the smooth operations of the JEP in the area hence the need for a revamp. While speaking on the project, the General Manager, Mr Aleyou Keita said, “The issue of makeshift poles will soon be laid to rest in the shortest possible time”.
Speaking on the issue of customers debt, Mr Keita said, the JEP is working in collaboration with GSM companies to provide a solution for the payment of electricity bills. “Our 7000 customers have been encountering problems in paying their bills, especially during the weekend, leaving most of them in darkness until the next working week. So we are working out modalities to ensure that customers pay their bills anytime through mobile money platform,” he disclosed.
The JEP In 2016, took over the Nimba Grid of the Liberia Electricity Cooperation (LEC) after it was privatized.
