- LERC approves framework for customer incentives
- Customers with high consumption targeted
- 22% proposed as an incentive
The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) has approved the proposal of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) to create an incentive framework for customers with higher consumption. The LEC aims at attracting high consumption customers to its network as well as, retaining the existing ones. Beneficiaries of the incentive scheme will receive a 22% discount on every purchase of electricity tokens worth US$1000 or more.
Following the approval, the LEC is expected to send the details of the Energy Consumption and Billing statistics of its high consumption customers. The data will cover the period from 1st January 2019 to 21 December 2020. The LEC will also forward to the LERC, a monthly performance report on the implementation of the incentive scheme. This report will assist the LERC in the monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the scheme.
The resolution approving the framework was signed by the Chairman LERC, Dr Lawrence D. Sekajipo and Commissioner Michael Korkpor.
