The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) has expressed disappointment on the planned load shedding schedule announced by the Liberia Electricity Company (LEC). The LEC had earlier issued a load shedding schedule for some areas. The outages would allow the LEC to carry out maintenance works on its infrastructure.
”Liberia Electricity Corporation wishes to inform its valued customers, and the general public of its upcoming Planned outages for June 7-13, beginning at 9:00 am to end at 5:00 pm daily. These outages are being carried out to enable our Planning department and the contractor (MBH) String Transmission Lines across its Krutown and Port Feeders as well as erect Concrete Poles along Capitol-Congo town and Paynesville-Congo town Feeders”, the statement read.
In a meeting of the LERC, the Board rejected the planned outage and asked the LEC to furnish the Commission with further details on the planned outages. The Commission also accused the LEC of failing to abide by the terms and conditions of service to its customers as approved by the LERC.
