  • LERC issues distribution license to JEP

The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) has issued a five-year Large Micro Utility Distribution License to Jungle Energy Power (JEP). The license will allow JEP to distribute electricity to customers in Nimba distribution area. The Chairman of the LERC, Dr Lawrence Sekajipo, who spoke at the licensing ceremony, stated that Liberia is ready for critical investment in its electricity sector.

Sekajipo also stated that JEP must carry out his duties according to the benchmarks outlined under the licensing terms and conditions. ”What the Commission and consumers require of JEP is the distribution equipment reliability that will enhance customer service and confidence in the electricity supply industry” Sekajipo said.

The Chief Executive Officer of JEP, Floyd Tomah said, “JEP is ready and willing to work with the donor community to provide affordable electricity to underprivileged communities, towns, and villages in Nimba County as done in other areas across the country,” Tomah said.

He further assured the Commission that JEP would carry out its operations in line with the terms and conditions of its license and ensure the supply of affordable electricity to customers in Nimba County.
