The General Manager TRANSCO-Cote d’Ivoire Liberia Sierra Leone and Guinea (CLSG), Mohammed Mulibah Sheriff, has announced that the company has constructed and energised a 225kV transmission line from Mano in Liberia to Monrovia. At the 25th Board of Directors meeting, Mr Sheriff stated that the line had been energised and will be commissioned by December 2021. The transmission line was constructed as part of the CLSG inter-country project.
Mr Sheriff added that TRANSCO-CLSG is working on synchronising the Mount Coffee substation with the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) substation. He also noted that three of the five substations are completed and undergoing pre-commissioning tests.
Mr Sherif said despite several unforeseen challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic, which seriously delayed project implementation, the CLSG project has achieved a 93% completion rate. Furthermore, he assured the Board, everything was being done to ensure full commissioning of the 1,303km line by December 2021.
The General Manager also expressed gratitude to the governments and people of Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Guinea, donors and other key actors, including the Board of Directors, for their unwavering support to the CLSG project.
