The police in Yekepa, Nimba County, have apprehended two suspects for allegedly stealing solar panel light from the streets of Yekepa and the industrial city near the border with neighbouring Guinea.
The two suspects are identified as 28-year-old Johnson and 35-year-old Wales. Residents of Yekepa had complained repeatedly about the city being in total darkness. This led to the provision of several solar street lights for the town by ArcelorMittal Liberia.
The two suspects allegedly stole two pieces of solar plates from Yekepa, Nimba County and took them to Guinea for sale. They have been apprehended, brought back to Liberia, and detained at the Sanniquellie Central Prison, awaiting trial.
