The Turkish energy company ENKA has announced that it has begun structural works on the Tripoli power station project. ”We are pleased to announce that on June 5th 2021, the first structural concrete was poured on Tripoli West 671 MW Simple Cycle Power Plant project of ENKA in Libya”, the company said.
The Tripoli project is being implemented in collaboration with German energy giant Siemens. The contract for the construction of the Tripoli Power station was signed in 2017 with the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL). The project will address the electricity generation shortfall in the Libyan electricity sector.
The Tripoli West project turbine specifications are based on four SGT5-PAC 2000E Siemens combustion turbine generator units. The turbines will be dual fired with light fuel oil and natural gas. The deadline for the completion of the project is 2022.
