LIBYA: GECOL Reaches Settlement on Transmission Project

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has finally reached an agreement with property owners located on the Right of Way (RoW) for the construction of its transmission line project, which will link the towns of Ubari and Al-Fajeej.

GECOL’s Board of Directors, alongside the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Ramadan Abu Janah, paid a visit to the project site at the city of Ubari. During the visit, GECOL and the residents signed a Memorandum of Understanding permitting works to resume at the project site. The residents had previously demanded compensation for the construction of the high voltage transmission lines on their land.
