LONGi Sets New Record for Silicon Solar Cell Efficiency

  • The new world record in efficiency for silicon cells is now 26.81%.
  • Improving efficiency and reducing the Levelized cost of energy (LCOE) is the eternal theme of the development of the photovoltaic industry.

On Friday, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. Ltd, China’s solar giant, announced its breakthrough in the efficiency of its silicon solar cells. Following the certification report from Institut Fur Solarenergieforschung in Hameln(ISFH). The new world record in efficiency for silicon cells is now 26.81% on full-sized silicon wafers through ass production of HJT silicon solar cells by the company.

Martin Green, The “Father of Photovoltaics” and a professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia, acknowledged that the outstanding record would be included in the following efficiency tables published on the progress of Photovoltaics.

In his remark, the Founder and President of LONGi, Li Zhenguo, said that improving efficiency and reducing the Levelized cost of energy (LCOE) is the eternal theme of the development of the photovoltaic industry. Solar efficiency is the beacon of the photovoltaic industry. LONGi’s new world record in silicon solar cell conversion efficiency has received attention from International Energy Agency(IEA), the Smart Energy Council(SEC) in Australia, Renewables in Africa and the Association of Chile Energy Solar, World Business Council for Sustainable Development(WBCSD).
