Maektech Power Solutions Expands Clean Energy Investments in Nigeria

  • Maektech Power Solutions has announced new investments to expand its clean energy operations and support Nigeria’s transition to net-zero emissions by 2060.
  • The company plans to deploy scalable solar systems and expand EV charging ports.

Maektech Power Solutions, a solar energy company operating in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Benin City, has announced new investments to expand its clean energy portfolio and accelerate Nigeria’s transition toward net-zero emissions.

The company said the expansion aligns with Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan and its Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement, which target carbon neutrality by 2060 while improving access to affordable and sustainable energy.

Chief Executive Officer Otudero Michael said Maektech Power Solutions aims to serve as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s decarbonisation efforts. “Maektech Power Solutions is not merely a solar provider; we are a crucial pillar in Nigeria’s energy future,” he said. “Our mission is to democratise access to clean, reliable, and affordable solar energy across the country, empowering households and businesses while advancing environmental sustainability.”

Michael said the company has completed more than 800 solar installations, including multimillion-naira industrial projects across major commercial centres, helping businesses cut energy costs and reduce emissions. He added that Maektech’s new investments will prioritise scalable solar systems and an expanded network of electric vehicle charging stations to support Nigeria’s growing clean mobility infrastructure.

“The shift from grid dependence to decentralised clean energy is no longer aspirational; it is an urgent requirement if Nigeria is to meet its climate commitments and drive sustainable economic growth,” Michael said. “We are actively building the bridge to that future.”

Nigeria’s demand for solar energy continues to rise. Official data show solar imports grew by 94% in 2023 as businesses and households increasingly turned to off-grid systems amid unreliable grid supply. Despite this growth, high costs, sometimes reaching N30 million for advanced systems, remain a major constraint.

Maektech said it is tackling these challenges through flexible financing models and modular solar systems that allow consumers to scale installations based on need and budget.

Founded to address Nigeria’s chronic energy issues, including erratic grid supply and high fuel costs, Maektech Power Solutions positions itself as a premium solar provider focused on accessibility, reliability, and quality execution.

As the Federal Government intensifies efforts to diversify the national energy mix, Maektech’s expansion underscores the private sector’s growing role in advancing Nigeria’s sustainability targets. The company said collaboration among clean energy firms, policymakers, and investors will be crucial to achieving the country’s net-zero ambition and ensuring long-term energy security.
