- UpEnergy and the myclimate foundation signs an agreement for green stoves distribution in Malawi.
- The partnership is a ten-year project to promote clean in Malawi.
UpEnergy, a company that finances green solutions with carbon credit and a Switzerland-based myclimate foundation, partners to enable the implementation of a ten-year project in Malawi. The goal is to distribute 400,000 green stoves to Malawian households over the next ten years.
“They are better cookers; unlike conventional cookstoves, these stoves will consume less fuel, 45-55% less charcoal, due to their thermal efficiency, and can bring substantial financial benefits to families,” says UpEnergy.
Over the following ten years, the project will help 2 million individuals in Malawi. In the first ten years of the initiative, the dispersed green stoves are anticipated to offset more than 5 million tonnes of CO2. In addition, carbon credits will be created using this environmental benefit. These carbon credits, according to UpEnergy, will be validated by the Gold Standard, opening up a new possibility for businesses to engage in carbon offsets with additional concrete advantages, ranging from improved indoor air quality to job creation.
