The Malaysian arm of Mondelez International, the owner of snack brands like Milka, Cadbury and Oreo, has engaged the services of NEFIN Group, a carbon-neutral service providing company, to install rooftop solar panels at two of its local manufacturing plants in Malaysia.
The new partnership will see 1266 solar panels installed at the Shah Alam located plant of the company where Cadbury Dairy Milk is produced. At Prai, the location of the biscuits and salty snacks plant, another 1754 solar panels will be installed at the Twisties, Jacob’s and Chipsmore production plant.
The two solar plants will generate 1.88 million kWh combined in their first year of operation and help the company cut costs by about USD 2.65 million over the next 25 years. NEFIN Grup’s Head of Business Development and Managing Director for Malaysia, Chong Bor Hung, stated that both companies have a success story with such partnership in Thailand with discussions going on for more of its type concerning South-East Asia regions.
