- Lightsource has signed PPAs with McDonald’s and eBay
- Lightsource will supply both companies solar power from a yet to be built 345MW plant in Louisiana.
- The project is expected to be completed in 2023.
E-commerce giant eBay and fast-food chain McDonald’s have signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) to acquire power from a soon to be developed 345MW solar power plant in Louisiana. Lightsource BP will construct the Ventress Solar farm in Pointe Coupee Parish about 48km (30 mi) northwest of Baton Rouge.
Lightsource plans to commence the project’s development by the end of the year, with completion and operations commencement slated formid-2023. The solar farm, when completed, is expected to generate over 600,000MWh of clean energy annually, enough to meet the annual energy demands of about 59,000 US households.
The project will require a total investment of over $300 million (€253.4m) and create about 400 direct jobs over 15-18 months of construction. The project is also estimated to have an indirect economic impact of over $200 million.
