Manila Electric Company (Meralco) clinched a deal to supply renewable energy to properties owned by Alliance Global Group. Meralco’s subsidiary MPower will deliver eco-friendly power from 100 megawatts of renewable energy capacity.
The agreement covers 70 property developments of Alliance Global Group’s Megaworld and Newport World Resorts. Hotels, resorts, and real estate facilities will benefit from the sustainable energy supplied by Meralco’s subsidiary.
Specific details about the contracted renewable energy projects were not available. Alliance Global Group aims to cover its energy demand with renewable power by 2025.
The conglomerate also aims to achieve carbon neutrality by the end of this decade. Currently, 95% of its electricity needs come from renewable energy sources.
Meralco recently surpassed its renewables contracting target of 1,500 megawatts. The electricity distributor signed deals for about 1,880 megawatts of clean power with various suppliers.
This collaboration signifies a significant stride towards a greener future in the Philippine energy landscape.
