Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, unveiled a significant milestone in Nigeria’s power sector with the inauguration of a 63MVA, 132/33kV Mobile Substation in Ajah, Lagos State. This marks a crucial advancement under Phase 1 of The Presidential Power Initiative (PPI).
Addressing attendees, Adelabu reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming the power sector value chain, encompassing generation, transmission, and distribution.
The newly commissioned Mobile Substation will help tackle transmission capacity constraints, potentially alleviating up to 1300MW of power shortages nationwide. They are strategically positioned in Okene, Amukpe, Potiskum, Apo, Ajah, and Birnin Kebbi, among others.
This initiative underscores the government’s proactive approach to enhancing transmission efficiency and reliability nationwide.
Adelabu emphasised the significance of this milestone, stating, “The inauguration of this 63MVA Mobile Substation in Ajah, Lagos State, signifies a critical step towards achieving our goals in the power sector.”
He highlighted the mobile substation’s multifaceted importance. Recognising its potential to drive economic growth, improve livelihoods, and foster development in the communities it serves.
With this inauguration, the government reaffirms its commitment to bridging the power supply and demand gap. Aiming to ensure uninterrupted and reliable electricity for all Nigerians.
