- Morocco launches pre-qualification for 400-MW wind farm tender.
- Bids expected by June 24; private entity to finance, build, and operate.
Morocco launched the pre-qualification stage for a 400-MW wind farm tender in the northern region on Friday. The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) initiated the tender.
Bids are expected by June 24. The tender aims to select a private entity to finance, construct, and operate two wind farms.
The Nassim Nord project includes the 150-MW Koudia Al Baida wind farm, situated in the provinces of Fahs Anjra and M’diq-Fnideq, and the 250-MW Nassim Dar Chaoui wind farm, located in Tangier and Tetouan provinces.
The construction of wind farms supports Morocco’s goal of having renewables account for 52% of the electricity mix by the decade’s end. The Noor Midelt project is a flagship endeavour that combines solar PV and CSP technologies in phases.
