Morocco’s total wind energy production capacity reached 2,373 megawatts (MW) by the end of 2024, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali said on February 4 in the House of Representatives.
Responding to an oral question on the progress of wind energy projects, Benali outlined developments under contractual production agreements, governed by Law 13-09 on renewable energies, as well as self-production initiatives.
She noted that the ministry’s multi-year plan aims to add 2.6 gigawatts (GW) of wind power capacity between 2023 and 2027, with investments exceeding 36 billion dirhams.
Wind projects play a key role in industrial integration and local economic development by creating jobs, enhancing skills, and boosting demand for locally manufactured equipment and services, she added.
