  • Dr Mpango, whose docket also handles environmental issues, poured praises on the company that has provided gas cylinders to 214 pregnant women and 86 community health workers in Buhigwe District

Vice President Philip Mpango commended Oryx Gas Tanzania’s new initiative to promote the use of clean energy and reduce environmental pollution. Dr Mpango, whose docket also handles environmental issues, praises the company for providing gas cylinders to 214 pregnant women and 86 community health workers in Buhigwe District. “This is a good initiative. It aligns with the government’s efforts to adopt clean cooking energy nationwide,” he said.

Oryx Gas has been distributing the cylinders to various communities in Tanzania to complement the government’s efforts to promote the use of clean energy. The government believes massive use of clean energy will help to reduce the use of wood and charcoal, thus improving community health, welfare and protecting the environment.

The efforts also align with the government’s goal of giving access to clean energy to up to 80 per cent of Tanzania’s households by 2032. Oryx Gas has partnered with the Doris Molleli Foundation to promote clean cooking energy for all. The distribution of gas cylinders was preceded by training on the correct use of gas which was facilitated by Oryx Gas zonal manager, Mr Alex John.

Each year, Oryx Gas Tanzania invests millions of dollars in new cylinders introduced to the market daily. The company also offers the cylinders at a considerable discount, subsidising many LPG costs for starting equipment (cylinder, gas, burner, trivet) to enable people to switch from wood and charcoal fuels to clean energy and make gas available throughout the country.
