- NANS President has commended the FG on tariff suspension
- Says suspension will relieve consumers
- Urge DisCos to provide meters to consumers
The President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Mr Sunday Kefason has commended the Federal Government on its decision to suspend the recent tariff increment by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). “We commend President Buhari for hearkening to the agitations of Nigerians, I want to say unequivocally that the suspension of the tariff hike is commendable at this time” the statement read.
According to the statement, “NANS had earlier rejected the hike in the electricity tariff, as we believe that the hike was insensitive, ill-timed, and anti-people”. Mr Kefason further said the suspension, will relieve the consumers of additional costs of living.
NANS commended the NERC for the prompt suspension of its decision and urged the Distribution Companies to ensure the prompt installation of meters.
