  • The training, aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to create job opportunities and drive economic growth through skill development.

In line with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at fostering wealth creation and employment opportunities for Nigerian youths, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has successfully concluded a 5-day training program for 100 youths in Ebonyi State.

The training, which took place from November 26 to 29th, 2024, at Remeritona Hotel and Suites in Abakaliki, focused on modern electrical installation and maintenance techniques, including electrical wiring, appliance repair, solar power installation, electrical panel maintenance, safety inspections, and system upgrades.

During the closing ceremony, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, represented by the Coordinating Director of Finance and Account, Mr. Ibrahim Baba Dauda, highlighted the agency’s commitment to job creation through skills acquisition.

He stressed that the training was aimed at economic growth and alleviating poverty, empowering the youth, and fostering socio-economic development. He noted a growing demand for skilled electrical professionals, particularly with the rise in building construction, which makes the training highly relevant to industry needs.

This initiative is part of NASENI’s broader efforts to support President Tinubu’s 8-Point Agenda, which emphasises poverty eradication, economic growth, job creation, and the provision of an enabling environment. The Ebonyi training is the third in the Southeast region, following similar programs in Anambra and Imo states focused on solar installation and maintenance.

In his address, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Hon. Elija Okwu Oko Udu, praised the collaboration with NASENI. He stated that the training program was part of Ebonyi State’s vision to provide opportunities for youths to succeed and contribute to society. He emphasised that skill acquisition is crucial for personal development and building a resilient economy.

At the end of the training, each participant was handed a starter kit containing essential tools such as a face shield, earmuffs, a hard hat, gloves, safety boots, a hammer drill, wire strippers, measuring tape, and a wireless inspection camera. These kits were provided to help the youths launch their careers in the electrical installation and maintenance industry, empowering them to develop their skills and contribute to the country’s development.

The NASENI leadership urged the beneficiaries to effectively use the tools and skills acquired, ensuring they build their careers and share their knowledge with others. They stressed the long-term value of their new skills over temporary financial gains.
