The Federal Government has intensified its clean energy transition agenda by launching a nationwide CNG conversion training programme for young Nigerians. This initiative supports the country’s move to cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable transport energy. It also strengthens efforts to expand technical opportunities for youths across different regions.

The Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives organised an intensive CNG training session in Ibadan, Oyo State. The event took place at the Thames Hotel in Jericho, attracting senior officials and industry leaders from the energy and automotive sectors.

Additionally, the programme drew motivated young participants who wanted to explore new opportunities within Nigeria’s evolving clean energy landscape. Consequently, the training provided a strong platform for learning and engagement.

Dr Titilope Gbadamosi, the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, addressed the participants. She stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to youth development.

Furthermore, she stressed that global energy trends demand skilled young Nigerians. She also explained that the programme will equip them to compete in the modern automotive technology sector. As a result, participants will acquire essential skills that enhance their prospects within the expanding clean energy sector.

She noted that the workshop offers more than classroom knowledge. Instead, it provides hands-on training that can create jobs and support technical enterprises. Therefore, the initiative will help position young Nigerians as active players in the country’s new energy economy.

She added that the Renewed Hope Agenda focuses on practical and future-ready skills. Additionally, she noted that Ibadan’s inclusion underscores the government’s commitment to equitable access.

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) partnered in organising the training. Several dignitaries commended the government’s efforts and encouraged the youths to embrace the opportunity.

Likewise, NADDC’s Director General, Otunba Joseph Osanipin, reaffirmed the council’s support for youth innovation. His representative, Mrs Onireti Joke, emphasised that CNG conversion skills are vital to Nigeria’s transport transformation. She added that Nigeria needs young technicians capable of driving the clean energy transition.

Through this initiative, the government continues to advance a more sustainable and youth-driven energy future.
