NatPower Group to Commits GBP 10 Billion on UK Battery Rollout

  • NatPower Group has pledged to invest over GBP 10 billion in the British battery energy storage market.
  • NatPower UK will also develop three GW-scale battery energy storage park projects.

NatPower Group, a clean energy infrastructure project developer, has pledged to invest over GBP 10 billion in the British battery energy storage market.  This also involves targeting the deployment of over 60 GWh capacity by 2040.

Luxembourg-based NatPower said that the battery roll-out will be carried out under a scenario where network operators cannot cope with the scale and speed of the energy transition’s progress.

Also, NatPower UK will develop three GW-scale battery energy storage park projects, which are expected to go through planning permission this year. Another ten projects are scheduled for 2025.

Furthermore, NatPower is spending more than GBP 600 million to develop substations to address constraints in the energy distribution network. The spending basket will also cover large-scale solar and wind energy infrastructure, with plans to be announced later in the current year.

CEO of NatPower Group, Fabrizio Zago, added, “We are proud to announce NatPower’s investment plan in the United Kingdom, which will give new impetus to the promotion of an energy system fully focused on renewables and will accelerate the country’s path towards achieving net gas emissions greenhouse equal to zero.”
