Spanish power company Naturgy Energy has been awarded about 20MW of capacity in a second tender process to deploy wind power on the Canary Islands archipelago.
The tender for 98MW wind projects is part of the EolCan 2 programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and was concluded in May 2021. Naturgy’s has been awarded the 9.2MW Camino de la Madera and the 10.75MW Aguimes projects. Both wind projects will be located on the island of Gran Canaria.
Naturgy intends to commence construction later this year, with commissioning scheduled for next year. Naturgy has ten operating wind farms with a combined capacity of 74.6MW across Spain’s islands in the Atlantic.
