  • Government equips about 50 women with energy-efficient stoves

The North East Development Commission [NEDC], in collaboration with the Gombe state government, on Saturday, 24th September, trained 50 women on energy efficiency and their role in climate adaptation. The project, in line with the Federal government’s commitment to the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, particularly goal 13-climate action, will empower women to contribute toward saving the world from the impact of climate change.

The women were trained on climate change and adaptation, green agriculture, energy management and upcycling. They were empowered to use energy-efficient stoves to reduce energy consumption and were empowered to serve as advocates and ambassadors for climate change. The trainees received cash and energy-efficient Charcoal-Burn Classic Jikokoa stoves.

The participants appreciated NEDC for selecting them to be beneficiaries of the project. They acknowledge that the program was very impactful, and they look forward to giving back to society.
