- NEITI to release roadmap for Nigeria’s energy transitions 2060 target
- Mr Olusegun Adekunle, Chairman of the NEITI Board, sees energy transition as the industry’s future
The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI, has announced that it will soon release a roadmap outlining Nigeria’s participation in the energy transition program to meet the Federal Government’s net zero emissions target by 2060. The agency’s Executive Secretary, Dr Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, made this disclosure at a workshop hosted by NEITI in collaboration with the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) in the United States.
Dr Orji stated that the road map will be comprehensive in content and include a framework containing information and data to drive the implementation of the Federal Government’s overall Energy Transition Plan. He also stated that the global push for cleaner energy has far-reaching implications for a resource-dependent country like Nigeria.
In his remarks, Mr Olusegun Adekunle, Chairman of the NEITI Board, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to providing NEITI with the necessary policy direction that aids in developing the road map. He sees energy transition as the industry’s future. Mr Adekunle also charged workshop participants to use the workshop to improve their energy transition skills and knowledge.
