- Neoen secured seven new solar and agrivoltaic projects in France, totalling 164 MWp, bringing its total capacity to over 2.5 GW.
- Four awarded projects will feature agrivoltaic systems, combining solar power and agricultural activities.
- Neoen plans to continue expanding its renewable energy portfolio, further strengthening its leadership in the global energy transition.
Neoen has secured seven new solar and agrivoltaic projects totalling 164 MWp through France’s Energy Regulation Commission (CRE). This brings the company’s total secured capacity to over 2.5 GW. The new projects strengthen Neoen’s leadership in the renewable energy sector.
The projects will be across six French regions: Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Centre-Val de Loire, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Occitanie. Developers will commission the installations between 2026 and 2032. The largest project, Tourneuve (73 MWp), will depend on the work of the national operator on the grid connection.
With these new awards, Neoen has won 642 MWp in the ground-mounted photovoltaic category under France’s PPE2 program. Four of the seven projects will combine solar power generation with agricultural activities in agrivoltaic systems. These projects reflect Neoen’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and collaboration with agrarian specialists.
Guillaume Decaen, Neoen’s Director of Business Development in France, expressed his appreciation for local partners and farmers. “We sincerely thank our local partners and farmers for their support and trust. These successes show our ability to deliver projects contributing to the energy transition.”
Neoen’s achievements build on a record year in 2023, securing nearly 500 MW of solar and wind capacity. This success underscores Neoen’s strength in renewable energy. The company’s portfolio now includes over 2.5 GW of secured solar, wind, and storage projects in France, reinforcing its leadership in the energy transition.
The agrivoltaic projects will integrate solar panels with agricultural land, allowing energy production alongside farming. This approach prevents solar projects from displacing agrarian activities. By using land for dual purposes, Neoen aims to reduce the environmental impact of solar projects while supporting local economies.
Neoen has worked closely with local communities and regional authorities to ensure project acceptance. This collaborative approach has addressed concerns and secured broad support for the projects. The company’s close engagement with stakeholders aims to balance energy production with local interests, promoting a positive relationship between the energy transition and regional development.
Neoen plans to continue growing its pipeline of renewable energy projects both in France and internationally. The company aims to expand its portfolio further, delivering high-quality projects that align with national environmental and energy goals.
Xavier Barbaro, Neoen’s CEO, emphasised the importance of the company’s success. “This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to high-quality projects,” he said. “With our substantial pipeline, we will continue to contribute significantly to the energy transition in France and beyond.”
As Neoen expands its presence in the global energy market, the company remains focused on providing sustainable energy solutions. Its growing capacity in solar, wind, and storage technologies positions it to play a vital role in meeting global climate targets.
