- Nestlé’s Moroccan subsidiary has commissioned a solar PV plant to electrify its El Jadida factory.

The Moroccan subsidiary of the multinational corporation Nestlé has commissioned a photovoltaic solar power plant to electrify its El Jadida factory. French company renewable energy company Qair constructed the solar facility. The solar PV plant that comprises 2,600 solar panels covering an area of 7,000 square meters.

The cost of the power plant is 12 million Moroccan dirhams (over €1 million ). It will provide 1.7 GWh of electricity annually to the Nestlé factory. Nestlé expects the new plant to reduce its CO2 emissions by 1,000 tonnes yearly. The project is part of its plan to halve its CO2 emissions from all its facilities by 2030 and reach zero emissions by 2050. The plant will also help Nestlé save on energy costs and reduce its dependency on the national grid.
