- Crypto mining companies plan to use clean energy to power data centres.
- The data centres are expected to be operational in Q4 2021.
- More companies are increasingly adopting renewable energy for high energy crypto mining.
Two U.S.based cryptocurrency mining companies, BIT5IVE and GMine, plan to utilise over 1GW of clean energy to power new crypto data centres in Texas. Both companies intend to construct the new facilities under a joint venture Manhattan Solar Partners.
While both companies did not provide specific details on their potential power supply sources, BIT5IVE stated that its partner has identified “significant renewable energy sources” to meet the entire energy demand of the new data centres.
Construction of the data centres is expected to commence in Q3 2021, while operations will begin the following quarter.
