- Nhimbe Fresh installs a solar-storage device to boost its agricultural processes.
- Sun Exchange provided the funds for the project
Nhimbe Fresh, Zimbabwe’s leading agricultural company, has installed an additional 1MWh solar-plus-storage facility. Sun Exchange, the global leasing platform, made this announcement.
Sun Exchange previously completed the project’s crowd sale. Approximately USD1.4 million in solar cells was purchased by over 1,905 people in 98 countries, making it Africa’s largest crowdsourced project. The energy generated from the project will power the Nhimbe Fresh packhouse and cold storage facilities.
In a statement by Abraham Cambridge, CEO and founder of Sun Exchange, businesses like Nhimbe Fresh can access affordable, reliable solar power, protect their operations from power outages, reduce energy costs, and lead efforts to create a sustainable future, thanks to our technology and community-driven approach to solar. “With African countries under pressure to decarbonise while concurrently expanding their economies, we need innovation that enables clean energy for industries without putting a strain on national budgets or impeding development,” Abraham said.
