THE Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) 2024, scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, Nigeria, from February 26 to March 1, 2024, has announced its distinguished lineup of speakers. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will deliver the keynote address at the summit. President Tinubu’s participation is expected to elevate Nigeria’s standing in the global energy community and foster collaborations that transcend geographical boundaries. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, will present the Gas Industry Address. At the same time, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, will deliver the Oil Industry Address.
The international speakers that will grace the summit include OPEC Secretary General, H.E Haitham Al Ghais; Secretary General, African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO), Omar Farouk Ibrahim; Secretary General, Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), H.E Eng. Mohamed Hamel; and Secretary General, International Energy Forum (IEF), H.E. Joseph McMonigle. Also, distinguished speakers from the industry include the Chairman of the International Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG)/ Waltersmith Group, Abdulrazaq Isa; Country Chair/CEO of Shell Companies in Nigeria/ Chairman, Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), Mr. Osagie Okunbor, and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Brittania-U, Mrs Catherine Uju Ifejika.

The theme of the summit, ‘Navigating the new energy world order: Security, Transition, and Finance’, reflects the imperative for stakeholders in the energy industry to collaboratively address challenges related to security, adapt to the changing energy landscape, and mobilise financial resources for a sustainable and resilient future.
This theme encourages discussions and initiatives that contribute to shaping a dynamic and responsible global energy paradigm. NIES is an annual gathering that serves as the official platform for dialogue and collaboration within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. NIES is jointly hosted by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and its parastatals. It brings together key industry players, decision-makers, and stakeholders to address critical issues and opportunities in the evolving energy landscape.
