- 40MW Ossiomo IPP commissioned in Edo state
- The project will provide electricity supply to the Benin Enterprise Park
The 40MW Ossiomo Independent Power Plant (IPP) has been commissioned in Benin City, Edo State. The Ossiomo IPP will provide electricity to the Benin Industrial and Enterprise Park and communities in Ikpoha Okha Local Government Area.
Speaking with journalists, the Managing Director, Dr Uwa Igiehon, said, “The plant is an addition to the existing 55MW plant, which has been in operation in the state since 2020 and has been supplying power to government buildings, offices and streetlights, among others.”
“The 40MW plant was tested on December 29, 2021, and is fully operational. At the moment, the plant is providing electricity to Ologbo and Obayantor communities in the area.” Dr Igiehon added.
The Benin Enterprise Park (BEP) is a development that will accommodate light industries and residential zones.
