Aawe community in Kwara state was agog with celebrations with the reconnection of the community to electricity supply. A rainstorm that occurred 7 years ago cut off the entire community from grid supply.
The traditional ruler of the community, Daudu-Sulaiman expressed joy over the development. He noted that several members of the community had relocated to urban areas due to the blackout. He hopes with the restoration of supply, the community will witness an influx of people and businesses. Daudu-Sulaiman thanked the Kwara state government for its efforts towards the restoration of supply to the community. He also thanked the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) for putting an end to the blackout.
The Regional Head lBEDC Kwara, Alhaji Ajisafe Bello, acknowledging the traditional ruler, pleaded with the community to protect the installations from vandals. He also explained the importance of the prompt and timely payment of electricity bills.
