- AECPF to monitor consumer bills for October for tariff increment
- DisCos deny tariff increment
In a letter signed by the National Coordinator of the All Electricity Consumers Protection Forum (AECPF), Mr Adeola Samuel-Ilori, the forum will monitor consumers’ electricity bills for October in light of the recent alleged increment in electricity tariff by the DisCos. Last week, a leaked memo from Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) revealed plans to implement an increase in electricity tariffs.
”We are of the opinion that your organisation is not oblivious of the provision of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005 as it relates to increase in tariff process and steps to be taken.” the letter read.
”Let us reiterate that any increase in tariff announced without following such process as mandated in Section 76(1) and 76 (2) (b) and (f) will be resisted by the consumers,” the letter stated.
The AECPF, according to the letter, will take legal action against NERC if the tariff increment is effected.
