- EKEDC says blackout due to heavy downpour
- Heavy rains destroyed power lines
- Work is ongoing to restore supply
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has explained that the current blackout in Badagry and environs was a result of the heavy rainfall on 8th March 2021. The heavy rain destroyed electrical installations which affected supply to the area.
The General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, Godwin Idemudia, said the rainfall had destroyed some poles. However, the technical team of EKEDC is currently carrying out repairs in order to restore supply to the affected areas. The affected communities include Ajara, Vrekete, Cele Keta, Poshukor, Zogbakame, Finayon, Vetho, Iyafin, Apa, Kankon, and Seme communities.
Mr. Idemudia urged for calm and patience as EKEDC carries out the repairs. “EKEDC highly regrets any inconveniences caused by this outage. We are, therefore, appealing to customers to bear with us, as supply will be restored as soon as these repairs are concluded”, he said.
