NIGERIA: Customers Complain of Poor Supply from IBEDC

Residents of Iseyin in Oyo state have complained about electricity supply from Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). The residents say the supply to the area has been unsatisfactory and unreliable. They added that on the days they receive any supply from IBEDC, it lasts no more than five hours contrary to their tariff band classifications.

”The last time we had about five hours supply daily in my area was April, we have been using our hard-earned resources to generate power, it’s been very difficult”, Felicia Bambi, a businesswoman said while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

”We have written several letters to appeal and seek understanding of the IBEDC, but all have not yielded any result so far”, community leader, Iyanda Isalu also said. ”Our situation is indescribable now because power is a total stranger to us in most parts of Iseyin now, the worst part of the story is that they (IBEDC) still send us bills”, he added.

These allegations come as there has been a slew of complaints by several communities under the IBEDC coverage area. Customers of IBEDC have complained of poor and unreliable supply and in some cases, total blackout without any resolution from IBEDC.
