- FG commends NBET for contributions to the sector
- Calls on stakeholders to work with the FG to improve electricity supply in the country
The Minister of State for Power, Mr Goddy Jedy-Agba, has commended the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trader (NBET) on its contributions to the sector’s growth since it became licensed in 2011. The Federal Government set up the NBET to act as a bulk electricity trader between the Distribution Companies (DisCos) and the Generation Companies (GenCos).
“I like the work you are doing here, but Nigerians expect more because until the country achieves stable and sustainable power supply, we can’t rest,” Jedy-Agba said. “In the Ministry of Power, we are happy with what you have achieved, but we expect you to do more because there’s still a lot to do for Nigeria to achieve the power plan of Mr President,” he added.
Jedy-Agba also urged stakeholder collaboration in improving the electricity supply in the country. “We must work together to achieve this aim because the president and Nigerians will hold us all responsible if we fail,” Jedy-Agba stated.
Mr Nnaemeka Eweluka, Managing Director, NBET, assured the Minister of the efforts of the NBET in working with the Ministry of Power and other sector stakeholders.
