- Generation drops below 4000MW
- Hydro output falls by 36.6% to 660MW
- 2,792.6MW idle due to sector constraints
Generation capacity in the sector fell below 4000MW as the output from Hydro stations fell by 36.6% to 660MW from 1042MW. Data obtained from the System Operator (SO) showed that, the national grid generated 3,657MW as of 6.00 am on Sunday, this is a drop from 4156.7MW generated on Saturday.
The poor performance of the Generation Companies (GenCos) was due to the sector constraints such as gas constraints, water management and low DisCo load demand. 2,792.6MW of generation capacity lay idle as of 6.00 am as opposed to 2,195.1MW on Saturday. Three of the four operational Hydropower stations could only generate a total of 660MW while 10 gas-fired stations lay idle within the same period.
