Ikeja Electric has stated that it has installed 105,000 meters for its customers under the Federal Government’s National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP). The Head, Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue, announced this on Sunday.

Ofulue stated that over 99% of the 106,701 customers under Phase 0 of the NMMP had been metered. ”We have so far metered 105,000 customers under the NMMP, and we are appealing to others yet to get their meters to be patient,” he said.

He also clarified that the meter installations were still ongoing. ”The process of installing prepaid meters is ongoing and have not been discontinued as being insinuated by some persons.” ”We are anticipating that the Phase One of the NMMP will begin soon, which will give us the opportunity to meter more customers,” he added.

He also asked customers to desist from tampering with meter installations as anybody caught will be sanctioned according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) regulations.
