Residents have been without electricity for weeks now
- Eko DisCo confirms blackout
- Says it’s a fault from an 11kV feeder
Residents in some cities in Lagos state have complained of a lack of supply which has gone on for several weeks and counting. Supply to Ijesha, Amuwo Odofin, Alaka, Orile, and parts of Surulere has been erratic affecting households and businesses.
Ejike, a resident of Ijesha said “The situation here is pathetic. Even if they restore power today, we are only guaranteed electricity for two days at the most. Afterward, everywhere goes dark. We won’t see light for another one week”.
Another resident, Chief Anslem says ”There are never explanations for the outages. It’s always this way. No explanations whatsoever. And then when it rains, we don’t expect power supply in a week” he said.
An Eko DisCo representative has apologised for the outage and assured, efforts are underway to restore supply in affected areas. ”We are deeply sorry. The fault is due to the 11KV Santa feeder that got affected. Our faults men are working on it. Please bear with us and exercise more patience sir. We shall revert with positive update accordingly”.
