- MDAs to spend ₦104 billion purchase and maintenance of generators
- FIRS has the highest budget with ₦1.8 billion
Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have budgeted at least ₦104 billion to purchase and maintain generators in the 2022 budget before the National Assembly.
The Federal Ministry of Finance has budgeted has the highest budgetary allocation with ₦82 billion allocated for the purchase of a power generating set. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) also allocated ₦1.8 billion to maintain and purchase generators. The Nigerian Army, the Department of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian Ports Authority, the Nigeria Police, and the Nigerian Communications Commission are also among MDAs with huge allocations for generator purchases and maintenance.
The State House was not left behind, with a total of ₦30.67 million budgeted for fueling generator sets. The 2022 Budget proposal titled ”Budget of Economic Growth and Sustainability” has a total expenditure of ₦16.39 trillion and a ₦6.26 trillion deficit.
