- Goddy Jedy-Agba visited the Actis UK-commissioned 609 kilowatts peak (kWp) solar hybrid power plant at the Jabi Lake mall
- The solar hybrid power plant has now powered the mall for 14 months
- Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) within the mall have seen their electricity bills drop by 30 percent.
The Minister of State for Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, recently inspected the Jabi Lake Mall solar hybrid power plant that has powered the facility. In his comments, the minister commended the work of Actis and encouraged investors to replicate the initiative across the country. He noted that such projects would cut down energy costs for MSMEs. “Actis is proving that one can cut down energy bills through this project and this should be replicated in other places,” said Jedy-Agba.
The minister also advised investors to consider partnerships with the Distribution Companies to integrate solar energy into grid-power supply for commercial and industrial facilities.
Many businesses, especially start-ups, are unable to break even due to the rising cost of electricity. To overcome the negative impact of generating power outside the national grid, many are tilting towards renewable energy.
