- Omo-Agege decried the poor state of electricity supply
- NDPHC to construct the power station
- BEDC suggest bulk metering of host communities
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has decried the poor state of electricity supply in the country at the unveiling of the proposed power 7.5MVA/33kV injection substation at Orogun in Ughelli North Council, Delta state.
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) will handle the construction of the power station. The substation will step down power from the grid to seven 11kVA distribution transformers and distribute electricity to the host communities.
The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has suggested bulk metering for the beneficiaries of the project. Omo-Agege opposed the idea of bulk metering and urged each home to take responsibility for its electricity consumption.
In attendance at the unveiling ceremony was Chief Benson Ndakara, the President-General of Orogun Kingdom. He commended the Deputy Senate President for the project and urged the NDPHC to ensure the power station is constructed using the right materials.
