Nigeria Receives €30m to Rehabilitate Jebba Power Station

Mainstream Energy Solutions, the owners of the Jebba Hydroelectric power plant, has awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of Jebba Hydroelectric power plant to an Austrian firm. The Austrian firm, Andritz, will replace the electromechanical and hydro-mechanical equipment for unit 2G6 of the power plant. Equipment to be replaced includes a 96.4MW turbine, a 103MVA generator, a transformer, an external switchyard, and ancillary equipment, as well as an intake grid.

Following the fire incident in 2009 which affected Unit 2G6, the power plant has been out of service. With the completion and reactivation of the project, the hydroelectric power plant will add 578.7MW to the grid.
