Members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Senior Staff Employees of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) have unanimously impeached its President General, Comrade Chris Okonkwo. According to the NEC, the decision was taken to save the union from a ”corrupt and tyrant leader”. The impeachment takes effect from August 12, 2021. The NEC allege the breach of the union’s Rules 3, 9 and 26.
The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) and the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) at Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have hailed the decision of the NEC. In a joint statement, the Regional Branch President of SSAEAC-TCN, Ibrahim Mohammed and the Chapter Chairman of NUEE, TCN headquarters, Chris Adah, said, ”He must render accounts of his stewardship. He must account for our check-off remittance over the years. TCN would enjoy peace and tranquillity for enhanced productivity in the power sector.”
